It has been a busy year for Central Juniors and their School representative hockey.

As the PSSA Australian championships came to a close the U16 Australian Schoolgirls were getting ready to warm up. Central had 6 representatives in the ACT U16 Schoolgirls team who traveled to Adelaide to compete between from 9th-16th of August.

Whilst the girls didn’t have any wins (or goals), they had a great attitude and were used by other states’ coaches as a demonstration about staying positive. They showed significant improvement during the week-long carnival and it was reported that they were a pleasure to watch. The six Central representatives were Isabel Burkett-Roscoe (15/1s), Sophie Woodbridge (15/1s and CL1/2), Abbey Connell (15/1s), Sam Howitt (18/1s and CL2), Evelyn Pappas (18/2s) & Viv Schweizer (SL1).

Central U21 Women’s Representative

Tina 21s ACT

Central’s Tina Taseska was a part of the Bronze Medal winning ACT U21 team in Perth, WA.

The 2014 Under 21 Women’s Australian Championships were held in Perth, WA from July 1 until July 12 and Central’s CL1 player Tina Taseska was part of the bronze medal winning ACT team.

ACT started the tournament well with a 2-1 win of Tasmania on Day 1 before falling short in a 9-0 defeat to eventual winners NSW on Day 2.

Day 3 saw ACT defeat South Australia 2-1 before going down 3-2 to Western Australia on Day 4. The ACT team came up on top on Day 5 with a 3-1 win over Victoria and despite a 5-2 loss at the hands of Queensland on Day 7, ACT still performed well enough to make the Semi Finals.

ACT went down 4-1 in their Day 8 Semi Final, which was a much closer game against NSW. ACT were able to defeat South Australia 1-0 in their final 3rd vs. 4th Classification match on Day 9 to bring home the bronze medal.

Congratulations to Central’s Tina Taseska on helping the ACT U21s bring home the bronze medal.
